Sheffler's Rock Shop & Geode Mines
Shop open year round. Mine open April 1st to December 1st.
Come and enjoy "digging your own geodes!" The easily accessible strip mines are safe for all ages, just perfect for family outings.
All you need is a rock pick or rock hammer - gad bar or pry bar - sometimes a shovel- and don't forget your muscles! Nature doesn't give up her finest specimens easily. (Bring plenty of buckets and tools.)
Make arrangement for digging in the mine at the rock shop, where you will see a fine display of opened Geodes from the mine....the kind that are available at the mine.
"Keokuk Area Geodes"
Fee...$15 for each person. Each ticket is for 50 lbs. If you want more than 50 lbs., the overrun fee is 75 cents per pound.
All parties make reservation so that we can schedule you in. Thank you.
"NOTE" in hot weather bring plenty of water.
This shop is ran by people who have been friends of the family for years. This is where we go to dig geodes. The rock shop's exterior is covered with mineral specimens. Just seeing this makes the trip worthwhile.
